Due to special interests in breast, laparoscopic and general surgery A/Prof Vasica is committed to maintaining a broad range of surgical skills and holds a number of private and public surgical appointments as well as a number of on call emergency surgical rosters.
Procedures that A/Prof Vasica performs include (but are not limited to) breast surgery, varicose veins, haemorrhoidectomy, ingrown toenails, vasectomies, pilonidal sinus surgery, lipoma’s and skin lesions (benign and malignant) and colonoscopies. A/Prof Vasica also performs laparoscopic procedures such as appendectomies, hernia repairs (open and laparoscopic) and cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). In addition to this, she has a particular interest in major abdominal surgery including bowel resections and laparotomies.
A/Prof Vasica is the current Chair of the Royal College of Surgeons NSW/ACT Surgical Training Committee; the committee that reviews all of the Surgical Trainees in NSW and ACT as well as the manner in which General Surgical training is delivered and assessed in order to produce the highest standard surgical trainees and surgeons for the future.
A/Prof Vasica is also the Clinical Supervisor of training for the Northern Beaches Hospital and holds the post of lecturer and clinical tutor at the Northern Clinical Network and SAN Clinical School of Medicine teaching both clinical examination and communication skills.
A/Prof Vascia is local to the Northern Beaches area and committed to remaining within the Northern Sydney area for the duration of her career. A/Prof Vasica is able to provide a service to all residents of the Northern Beaches through participation in the emergency on-call roster and elective lists at the Northern Beaches Hospital. In addition to rooms in Mona Vale’s Bungan Street Tower she also consults from sessional rooms at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga. Private patients may elect to have surgery via weekly elective lists at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Pittwater Day Surgery or Northern Beaches Hospital.

Neil
Neil is our dedicated Nurse Practitioner committed to providing holistic care under the mentorship of A/Prof Gabby Vasica. Neil is passionate about healthcare and delivering excellent patient centered care and surgical outcomes.
Neil completed his undergraduate training with distinction at the University of Technology, Sydney and a further Master of Advanced Nursing Practice with the University of Sydney. Neil’s deep interest in clinical care led him to further study a Master of Nurse Practitioner, graduating with distinction from the University of Newcastle specialising in acute perioperative care. Neil has over 10 years of experience and has held numerous roles in clinical nursing, education and healthcare management. He is a professional member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NSW) and a clinical lecturer at Avondale University. Neil actively contributes to the profession's advancement through clinical research and education and is a prospective PhD candidate with research interests in complex abdominal surgery. He is also a member of the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners.
Under the mentorship of A/Prof Gabby Vasica, Neil has developed his skills and expanded his knowledge, becoming an invaluable member of the Sydney General Surgeons team. Together our collaborative team is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all patients. Neil's care giving philosophy revolves around empathy and individualised attention, acknowledging the distinct needs of each person he serves. His continuous pursuit of knowledge ensures he remains abreast of cutting-edge advancements in healthcare, enabling him to deliver excellent clinical care.
Beyond his professional commitments, Neil dedicates his time to serving the community, volunteering with St John Ambulance NSW at major events and festivals, delivering frontline care with excellence. His service extends to aiding in various natural disasters, including the recent COVID pandemic, floods, and fires, earning him recognition with prestigious awards like the NSW Premier's Bushfire Citation and National Emergency Medal.
